Tether Feather

Tether Feather is an interactive fashion piece designed to support individuals with social anxiety in formal or unfamiliar social settings. Built as a feathered petticoat skirt, it integrates servomotors and touch sensors that animate the feathers in dynamic, elegant movements—whether to signal a greeting, express nervousness, or simply draw attention in a playful, inviting way. By transforming clothing into a social catalyst, Tether Feather creates opportunities for connection, eases the intimidation of meeting new people, and reframes fashion as both expressive and supportive. This experimental project was created for NWMEDIA/INFO C203: Critical Making, taught by Eric Paulos.
